This week I listened to I Got Rhythm by Ethel Merman. I chose this song because of how loud and exciting it is. I like how loud she can sing I think it is super cool. I like how she belts and holds notes for so long. I also just think this is such a fun song, it has very upbeat lyrics. I like how jazzy the music in the back is. It is a type of song you would want to swing dance to. I also think it is super impressive how she made such a popular song while being a woman during a time that did not favor women that much. I like listening to this song and see how long she holds the notes for. Especially the note at the very end it is super impressive! This week I listened to Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin. I chose this song because I liked how upbeat and fun it was. I think that this song sounds so happy because of the fun piano beat. Even if this song has no lyrics, it can still convey a lighthearted message. This music seems different from others of this time because of the upbeat nature. Songs from this time usual were more slow and mellow. This song is also surprising because it changes beats throughout the song. It almost sounds like two separate songs because of the way it changes throughout the song. I really like the intro of the song because it gets you hooked and excited because of how upbeat it is.
